Lotto winners catch lucky break
Two men won Super Lotto jackpots worth 8.79 million yuan ($1.35 million) each, drawing the same numbers in Zunyi, Guizhou province, Guiyang Evening News reported Wednesday.
The 17101th edition of the Super Lotto drawing, issued by China Sports Lottery, was conducted Aug 30 with two jackpots from site No 5202002379 in Zunyi. The two lucky tickets were drawn within only 4 minutes of each other, with the same numbers and payouts of 15 yuan.
Despite those similarities, the two ticket holders are not acquainted.
Li, one of the two lucky winners, said he copied the numbers on a wasted ticket — which happened to be the ticket thrown away by Wang, the other winner of the jackpot.
Wang said that he is a fan of Super Lotto, and has bought tickets with the same numbers for more than two years.
Li and Wang are willing to donate 10,000 and 20,000 yuan ($1536 and $3073) respectively to the Guizhou sports development foundation. The two decided to make this donation after learning of the foundation's sponsorship of sports training for western Chinese youths and for the entrepreneurship of retired athletes.
