Peach flowers festival to open in Tibet
The 17th Nyingchi Peach Flower Tourism & Culture Festival will kick off on March 29, a good time to observe the "pink flower ocean", according to a recent report by Tibet Daily.
Mountains afar are still covered with snow currently, but peach flowers are already budding and about to emerge in full blossom in Nyingchi city of the Tibet autonomous region. It has been the 16th consecutive year that this southeastern Tibet city has hosted such a gala, which has grown into a famous attraction in China.
In 2018, the city received over 7 million trips with the total revenue reaching 5.9 billion yuan ($879 million), according to the city's tourism authority in a report by Xinhua News Agency.
This year, the event will be held in Gala village, Bayi district, Nyingchi city, and the village is renowned as one of the best locations to observe the peach flowers.
Currently, peach flowers in the Nyingchi area have already begun to blossom. Due to various climates, elevations and terrains, the blossoming times for peach flowers differ. The best time for observing the peach flowers is about 40 days between March and April.
Themed as "a pristine land on Earth, and stunningly beautiful Nyingchi", this year's festival has 13 activities, including an opening ceremony, an art show, special food exhibitions and sales, a beer concert, and local specialties exhibitions.
