A traffic police officer in Nanjing, East China's Jiangsu province, has escorted two visually-impaired children across a road every morning for over a month.

The pair, a girl and her younger brother, go to their school every day on their own.

After learning the situation, a police officer, named Gao Linlin, began escorting the two children across the road every day since December.

"Sometimes, when I don't see them come after the scheduled time, I get worried. But when I see them come, I feel relieved and rush to meet them," said Gao.

In fact, the children's mother, surnamed Wang, followed her children on their way to school every day, but maintained a distance.

After seeing Gao escort her children across the road, she felt much more reassured. Recently, Wang and her children went to the police station where Gao worked to pay her gratitude to the officer.
