10-year-old girl goes viral for cooking skills
Sun Jiarui, a 10-year-old girl from Outang Central Primary School in Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province, recently went viral online for her cooking skills.
Sun, who has been learning to cook from her father since she was eight, can now cook more than 50 dishes.
In November last year, video clips of Sun's skillful cooking were shared by People's Daily on its official Sina Weibo account.
The Outang Central Primary School has also gotten Sun and her father to promote the culinary arts at its new Gourmet Studio.
In the coming semester in September, primary and secondary school pupils in China will find a new "practical activities" course in their schedule, with at least one class hour every week.
The new course has three types of tasks: everyday chores, including cleaning, organizing, cooking, and using and maintaining home appliances; productive labor, including traditional handicrafts; experience of new technologies, such as 3D printing; and volunteer work.
