PLA conducts scheduled military exercises around Taiwan island

The People's Liberation Army Eastern Theater Command continued conducting military exercises in the sea and airspace in the north and south of the Taiwan island, including sea and land strikes, and air defense and anti-submarine warfare, a spokesperson said Thursday afternoon.
Li Xi, spokesperson for the theater command, said in a statement that these exercises aim to test the combat capabilities of the theater command forces in terms of multi-domain coordination and joint strikes.
Earlier on Thursday morning, the theater command announced the two-day joint exercises to be conducted around the Taiwan island.
