China rejects 'unreliable partner' label, reaffirms stable US policy
China stated on Wednesday that its policy toward the United States remains consistent while firmly safeguarding its sovereignty, security and development interests, following remarks by US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent describing Beijing as an "unreliable partner", just days after the meeting between the leaders of the two countries.
China's policy toward the US remains stable and China has always approached and handled China-US relations in accordance with the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said at a regular news briefing.
At the same time, China firmly safeguards its sovereignty, security and development interests, Mao said.
She added that maintaining sound and stable bilateral ties serves the fundamental interests of both peoples and meets the shared expectations of the international community.
