Tianjin Juilliard expands musical reach
On Sunday, the pre-college program of the Tianjin Juilliard School took its first step beyond Tianjin, launching a series of events at the Beijing Dahua City Center for the Performing Arts.
The event featured a master class and performance by renowned vocal instructor, mezzo-soprano Han Yinpei, who guided students through an enriching learning experience, while sharing her expertise in classical vocal performance with the young musicians.
During the master class, Han provided insightful instruction to three vocal students, emphasizing the importance of treating the human voice as an instrument. She spoke about the significance of mastering language and pronunciation while also encouraging students to immerse themselves in the emotional depth of each piece.
Following the class, Han joined pre-college vocal and instrumental students for a concert that showcased a diverse program spanning both Chinese and Western repertoire.
This event marked the first time that the program of the Tianjin Juilliard ventured outside the home city, offering Beijing's young music students and arts enthusiasts a glimpse of the institution's world-class educational resources and artistic experiences. At the same time, the series created valuable performance opportunities for the students enrolled in the program.
