The Chinese government is willing to encourage domestic companies to invest in Spain as the two countries are seeking to boost bilateral ties, said President Xi Jinping.

Xi said that the two countries should cooperate more in areas such as finance, telecommunication and renewable resources, adding that the Yiwu-Madrid freight train connection should be fully employed to continuously enlarge trade volume.

Spanish acting prime minister Mariano Rajoy spoke positively of China's efforts in dealing with current economic challenges, adding that his country is willing to enhance communication with China and develop trade, investment, culture and education.
