A Chinese property-company executive detained two months for questioning in a corruption investigation that has marred Beijing's 2008 Olympic preparations has returned to work.

Liu Xiaoguang, general manager of state-owned Beijing Capital Group Company and chairman of its Hong Kong-listed subsidiary, Beijing Capital Land Ltd., resumed his duties Thursday, the subsidiary said Monday in a statement posted on its Web site.

Liu's detention was part of the biggest corruption scandal to hit the Chinese capital in a decade. The property developer was among the highest profile figures detained for questioning in the investigation into a city vice mayor, Liu Zhihua.

The vice mayor, who has been stripped of his duties, oversaw construction in the capital, including projects for the Olympics.

Beijing Olympic officials have said that the scandal has not involved Olympic projects.

In its statement, Beijing Capital Land said it had been informed that the company is not part of the investigation. The company's shares, however, remain suspended from trading.
