  Acrobatics show resumes

Chaoyang Theatre is to resume nightly acrobatics shows from July 20.

And its magic show held on a small stage next to the main theatre will begin again on July 16.

The acrobatics programmes are performed by the Sichuan Province Acrobatics Troupe, which had dazzled audiences each night before the SARS crisis began. Most of the audience were overseas travellers visiting Beijing.

The magic show features Hebei Magic Troupe and will be staged twice every evening, revealing the secrets of Chinese traditional magical tricks on a small stage close to the audience.

Tickets: 100-150 yuan (US$12-18) for the acrobatics show, 120-200 yuan (US$14.4-24) for the magic show

Peking Opera outdoors

Beijing Peking Opera Theatre is to stage outdoor shows at various venues in Beijing, including the Lotus Flower Pond Park in Fengtai District, Zhongshan Park and places in Mentougou District.

People who buy tickets to enter these parks can enjoy these colourful performances free of charge, including a newly created Peking Opera piece called Special Meeting. It is themed on spreading the special stories of how SARS affected their way of life after it hit Beijing a couple of months ago.

Puppet Arts

China Puppet Art Theatre is to stage Hunter and Gertie, a drama based on a fairy tale written by the Brothers Grimm.

Staged by actors wearing big puppet masks, the drama tells a story of how two kids play with creatures, pick mushrooms in the forests and fight with a witch who can cast spells.
