Net gainGuo Yanjuan and Xu Jinjun have spent three harmonious years together.
Xu describes their story as a simple tale. "On the Net we go, we meet, and we fall in love," he said
Four years ago Guo was a shy and busy student at Nanjing University. "I heavily depend on the computer and the Internet for study and entertainment. The BBS at my university is my favourite corner and I often visit it," she admitted.
But she never expected a modern love story could spring from this idle past-time.
"My computer broke down one day and I sent a message for help. Someone called 'Sky' soon gave me some useful advice."
After repairing the computer, Guo started an online chat with the stranger, which lasted an unprecedented two hours.
Guo found "Sky" to be somewhat different from other posters as he often helped others online, sent humorous messages and had a good IT knowledge. "He is sincere and warmhearted, that is something people on the Net often lack."
They then sent each other emails and chatted using their QQ frequently.
Both were amazed to discover they were in the same institution, from the same province and at the same grade and age. And both are crazy about IT gadgets, hiking, hot food and blues music.
Three months later they finally decided to date each other - not on the Net, but in reality.
But their first meet didn't bring love as expected.
"The person you know on the Net is not always the person you imagine in real life," Guo admitted.
Both felt a bit disappointed, for they were not as handsome or beautiful as each had imagined.
But after half a year, these ideas had changed. "I am still struck by his personality, and can see his shortcomings, but I want to discover more of his qualities. He told me he has the same experience," Guo said.
They fell in love again - this time it was in real life.
And two years later they were married.
"A lot of Internet love fails," Xu said. "This is because it's difficult for one to stay sincere and honest because of the unreality of the web. There is always distance between the Net and life.
"But remember: knowing each other on the Net is only the first step. The traditional way of courting and dating will help you more when seeking the person of your dreams."
