Ding Shizhong, a Fujian provincial deputy to the National People's Congress (NPC) and chairman of leading Chinese sportswear company, ANTA Sports, suggested wider scale for high-tech enterprise certification, on March 7, at the 12th NPC's fourth session.

According to Ding, the current certification has contributed to technology advancement and increased production efficiency for high-tech firms, but does not do enough to support technological reform in more traditional companies.

He pointed out that the high-tech certification should expand its scale by involving more traditional companies from shoe and clothing, home appliances and food industries.

Ding suggested that the system have greater flexibility and offer different standards for different industries, as well as lowering application qualification and offering more guidance to traditional enterprises.
