This is China’s first high-speed railway built on a plateau and the longest high-speed railway in its western part. It is expected to improve transportation in the two provinces and the Xinjiang region and contribute to their economies as well as the Eurasian Land Bridge, a railway route all the way from Pacific seaports in the Russian Far East across China and on to seaports in Europe.
