Buddhists on Mount Wutai, Shanxi province, lit candles and said prayers for people in the earthquake-stricken area of the Xinjiang region, on Jan 12, while around 100 followers gathered at Jindu Square on the mountain using the lighted candles to make a heart shape. They stood around the candle heart, mourning and praying for a while. They also sang a Chinese song to "pray" during the ceremony. A magnitude-5 earthquake hit the city of Artux in Xinjiang on Jan 12, and the rest of the nation is trying to do something for the area.
