The Urumqi Forestry Bureau released information?on June 28 saying the landscape promotion work of planting 2.11 million shrubs, trees and flowers on the Hetan Fast Road is coming to a close.

The Hetan road is the aorta of Urumqi as it bears 47 percent of the city’s traffic. It has made a great contribution to Urumqi’s economy and transportation.

Shrubs trimmed into various shapes stretch along the fast road’ overpasses on Renmin Road, Henan Road and Suzhou Road, with trees and flowers well arranged around them.

One of the construction organizations said 600,000 flowers, including cockscomb, Chinese herbaceous peony and Chinese flowering crabapple, were planted along the route.

The section of the Xihong Road to Henan Road has nourished 17 kinds of flowers, totaling 1.42 million plants. Travelers on the road can enjoy the sea of beauty from late April to early October.
