NASA has approved a $100,000 investment to allow for further development of a new type of aircraft called the supersonic plane concept, foreign media reported. The plane looks something like a 4-cornered ninja (忍者) throwing star with 2 sides that are extended out while the other 2 sides are far shorter.(See photo)
據(jù)外媒報(bào)道，美國(guó)宇航局近日投資10萬(wàn)美元支持一項(xiàng)"超音速概念飛機(jī)"的研究。這種飛機(jī)外形像忍者的四星鏢，一對(duì)機(jī)翼長(zhǎng)，另一對(duì)機(jī)翼短。(見(jiàn)圖)

When it takes off, it has to have the longer wings on either side, because it needs to use that wingspan to gain enough momentum to get off the ground. But the large wingspan creates too much drag for the plane when it reaches supersonic speeds. So the plane rotates 90 degrees so that it is longer and thinner than when it took off.
起飛時(shí)，較長(zhǎng)機(jī)翼位于兩側(cè)，寬大的翼幅產(chǎn)生足夠動(dòng)力助飛機(jī)飛離地面。一旦飛機(jī)進(jìn)入超音速狀態(tài)，過(guò)寬的翼幅增加了飛行阻力，這時(shí)飛機(jī)水平旋轉(zhuǎn)90度，飛機(jī)以"瘦長(zhǎng)"姿態(tài)繼續(xù)前進(jìn)。
