HEFEI -- The former vice mayor of Anqing city in East China's Anhui province stood trial Wednesday on charges of taking bribes.
The Intermediate People's Court of Bozhou opened the trial of Fan Xianhan on charges of allegedly taking 1.8 million yuan ($260,700) of bribes, and receiving gifts worth 4.68 million yuan.
Procurators alleged Fan took the bribes, mostly from a real estate developer, when he worked as the county chief of Huaining, then vice mayor and police chief of Anqing between 2012 and 2016.
Fan pleaded guilty and expressed remorse.
The court has adjourned to decide on sentencing.
