Cultural creations made by Chinese women with disabilities showcased at UN headquarters
The 18th Session of the Conference of States Parties to the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities convened in New York on Tuesday. Concurrently, to mark the inaugural International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations, a special exhibition, "Beautiful Crafts Workshop Blooming in New York", opened at the UN headquarters on the same day, featuring over 200 exquisite cultural and creative works made by Chinese women with disabilities. Exhibits ranged from intricately crafted embroidery pieces, such as Lu Embroidery, Han Embroidery, Shu Embroidery, and Zhuang Brocade, to uniquely shaped ceramic wares, brightly colored woven crafts and symbolic fabric dolls, reflecting the ingenuity and dedication of the artisans.
These artworks, created by women with disabilities from 40 "Beautiful Crafts Workshop" institutions in 23 provincial-level regions across China, demonstrated their skills and conveyed their love for life, unwavering pursuit of dreams, and courageous perseverance in the face of adversity.
