Advancing toward a fairer world order
Relationship with Pakistan remains firm
President Xi Jinping said that as global changes unseen in a century are unfolding at a quicker pace, a robust China-Pakistan relationship is conducive to safeguarding regional peace and development.
Xi made the remarks during a meeting in Beijing on Tuesday with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The two countries should accelerate the building of an even closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era, bringing greater benefits to the two peoples and setting a model for the broader neighborhood, Xi said.
China stands ready to work with Pakistan to build upgraded versions of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and the China-Pakistan Free Trade Agreement, he stressed.
Xi noted that China supports Pakistan in combating terrorism and hopes Pakistan will take solid and effective measures to ensure the safety of Chinese personnel, projects and institutions in Pakistan.
Emphasizing that no force can undermine the unbreakable Pakistan-China bond, Sharif said that Pakistan firmly sticks to the one-China principle and looks forward to further strengthening friendship between the two countries and advancing cooperation in all fields.
Sharif said that his country will spare no effort in ensuring the safety of all Chinese personnel, projects and institutions in Pakistan.
