Shanghai Disney Resort announced on Wednesday an update to its ticket refund policy, introducing a more flexible system that will take effect from Jan 12, 2026, marking a departure from the current no-refund approach.

The updated policy is a tiered refund system that will apply to standard-priced tickets purchased through the resort's official channels. Under the new guidelines, visitors can receive full refunds when canceling at least seven days before their scheduled visit, while cancellations between six days and a day before the visit will incur an 80-yuan ($11.3) service fee per ticket. No refunds will be processed on or after the scheduled visit date.

This policy update aims to provide visitors with greater flexibility and convenience, helping them better manage unexpected changes in their travel plans, according to the resort.

The new system represents a shift from the current policy, which only allows date modifications without refund options. The policy will cover both one-day and two-day standard-priced tickets, as well as Disney dream day packages. For two-day tickets, refund eligibility will be calculated based on the first day of the planned visit.

To implement the new system, the resort has established dual refund channels. Visitors can process refunds through the resort's digital platforms, or seek assistance through the resort's reservation center before their scheduled visit.

The policy includes specific provisions for supplementary products. Additional services such as an early park entry pass or Disney premier access purchased for refunded tickets will be eligible for complimentary cancellation.

Tickets purchased with promotional discounts or those that have already undergone date modifications will not be eligible for refunds.

The new policy applies to tickets purchased through direct channels, including the resort's website, app, official WeChat account, reservation center and authorized flagship stores on major Chinese e-commerce platforms such as Douyin, JD.com, and Fliggy.

For visitors who have purchased tickets through authorized Disney partners, the resort advises contacting the original channel of purchase regarding refund policies.
